Graduate Application

The Marine Sciences Department will hold its next graduate recruitment event from January 31st - February 2nd, 2013. The Department will defray travel costs to this event for qualifying applicants.

Application information is available at the Graduate School web site (http://gradschool.uga.edu/admissions/requirements.html). 

Deadlines for Fall Applications:
January 1 for full consideration for university fellowships and for travel expenses to the recruiting event.

Applications will continue to be accepted through April 15 for international students and July 1 for U.S. students.

Application materials to be sent to the Graduate School:

1) Application (an on-line application is available at:(http://gradschool.uga.edu/admissions/requirements.html)

2) Application fee

3) Official GRE scores

4) Official transcripts for all college and post-college institutions attended

5)  Foreign student credentials (if applicable)

The Graduate School will forward copies of these materials to the Department. You do not need to send duplicates to the Department.

1) Three letters of recommendation (recommendation forms are provided in the Graduate School application, or the reference letter writers may send a letter)

2) Department Information Form (available as a pdf file)

3) Statement of purpose (describe your motivations for attending graduate school in the Department of Marine Sciences and your career goals; <1 page)

4) CV

Positive departmental admission decisions typically depend upon a potential future advisor promoting the application.
